Technical Explanation

Residual oil remains - Turbine lubrication systems contain numerous low points, coolers, bearing housings, filter housings, and piping runs. Old oil can remain after draining and gradually mix back into the new oil after start-up.

Deposits do not leave with the drained oil - Varnish attached to the tank, valves, bearings, or piping remains even after the reservoir oil has been replaced. New oil with different solvency may gradually dissolve some of those deposits back into the oil phase.

Compatibility matters - When changing brand or formulation, consider the compatibility of the base oils and additive packages as well as the condition of the existing system. Inc
