Technical Explanation

MPC is a useful Indicator for tracking Varnish Potential, but Treatment Success should be defined before work begins using multi-dimensional Acceptance Criteria. The objectives should cover Oil Condition, Machine Symptoms, and Sustainability of the result.

During Treatment, the oil and Deposits on surfaces may reach a new equilibrium. Some material is removed while some Deposits may re-dissolve into the oil. MPC can therefore change with Temperature, Sampling Condition, and system State; it should not be judged from a single Sample.

Trend MPC together with Filter Differential Pressure, Valve Response, Bearing Temperature, Oil Color/Chemistry, and Media Consumption. If the objective is to correct Valve Stiction but MPC decreases while the Valve does not improve, the work has not achieved the Business/Operational Outcome.

After reducing Treatment Intensity or temporarily removing the system, monitoring Rebound can help determine whether the Root Cause of Degradation has been controlled or merely compensated for by continued Treatment.
